NEWS 29/7/09
Llay welfare football
club as a whole are heading into the 2009/10 full of excitement
and optimism both on and off the pitch. The club over the recent
months have secured grant funding to build a 70 seater stand at
our Llay Base along with covered area for 40 standing spectators
and modernised home and away dugouts. Building work is very near
to completion and will be ready for the start of the season sees
pics below.
As a Club although
in a very good position on and off the pitch are still in search
of Major sponsorship for the coming season. A club like ours although
we raise most of our money ourselves by various fundraising events
is heavily dependent on donations/ Sponsorship. This Year we have
introduced a number of alternative sponsorship opportunities such
as Ground Advertising Boards and Individual Player Sponsorship
Please see our sponsor’s link for further Details.
As a club we would like to thank Jason Jones (Double J) who has
been taking Pre-Season training at the Club. Jason is well known
locally for his football pedigree having played many years in
the area’s top flight’s with successful spells at
Colwyn Bay, Oswestry and Bala to name a few and it is a pleasure
to have him on board. Jason although reluctant to sign a playing
form this season has been working hard over the last couple of
weeks providing vigorous but very enjoyable training getting the
players ready for the start of the season.
On the playing side
1st team manager Keiron Fox and 2nd Team manger Jeff Hennessey
have both worked tirelessly over the close season securing the
signings of some exciting new players to add to the current players
retained from last year’s squad hopefully to mount a serious
challenge on all front’s this coming year.
Llay Welfare would
like to welcome the new players and wish them all the best for
the coming season: -
Mike Platt (Goalkeeper)
a summer acquisition from local rivals Gresford. Michael is 6
ft Stupid and has all the attributes to become a quality keeper
hopefully he can fill the big gloves left by Dave Bloor Last season.
Steven Haliwell (Defender)
aka Haggis has rejoined after a year away again from Gresford.
Haggis is know as an old school no-nonsense defender and will
always give 100% and his vast experience at playing at this level
will only help the club.
Darran Jones (Midfield)
another ex-Gresford has signed and is another good acquisition
Darran is already one of the fittest /strongest members of the
squad who will give the manager plenty of different options all
over the pitch.
